About MODKIT.LIVE
Who We Are
MODKIT.LIVE is part of modmore. For our own events—often non-commercial—we were looking for an affordable but quality solution for streaming and recording. Since we couldn't find anything that met our requirements, we assembled our own setup.
Now we share that setup with other small businesses and organizations that need professional video without the professional price tag. We're straightforward about what we can and can't deliver—that prevents disappointment and builds trust.
We offer our services for both commercial and non-commercial events. For cultural organizations, charities, and fully volunteer-organized events, we can apply special rates—feel free to contact us to discuss what's possible.
Where We Can Help
MODKIT.LIVE operates from Leeuwarden, Friesland. We're available for events throughout Friesland, Groningen, and surrounding regions in Northern Netherlands. Whether you're in Leeuwarden, Groningen, Drachten, Sneek, or anywhere else in the region—we're happy to come to your location.
For longer distances, we don't rule anything out. For the right project, we're willing to travel further—contact us to discuss what's possible.
What We Offer
We provide professional video recording and live streaming services for indoor events. Our mobile studio includes multiple cameras, live switching, and streaming capabilities.
What's included: Video recording equipment, cameras, tripods, live video mixing, streaming setup, and video operator(s). We can also work with your existing audio setup or connect to your mixer.
What we don't provide: Professional audio equipment, lighting systems, projectors, or screens. For larger productions or outdoor events, we recommend working with specialized AV partners—we're happy to collaborate!
Limitations: Our equipment is designed for indoor use. We don't do outdoor events due to weather constraints (rain and direct sunlight). Maximum reach from control desk to cameras: 50 meters.
Technical Details
Cameras
We use professional PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras with AI tracking: the OBSBOT Tail 2 and OBSBot Tail Air cameras.
Although we've also considered other camera options, we found the balance between price and quality with these cameras to be the best for our situation. They excel in low-light and dynamic lighting situations, can be controlled remotely, and automatically track moving subjects. This allows us to deliver a dynamic production with a single operator.
OBSBOT Tail 2
The Tail 2 is our main camera with optical zoom (5x optical zoom, 12x hybrid). Specifications: 1/1.5″ CMOS sensor, f/1.8 to f/3.0 aperture. Recording up to 4k60, used live at 1080p60. We place this camera further away than the Tail Air cameras, perfect for both close-ups and dynamic shots from a distance.
OBSBot Tail Air
The two Tail Air cameras are compact cameras without optical zoom, but with excellent image quality. Specifications: 1/1.8″ CMOS sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 4x digital zoom. Recording up to 4k30, used live at 1080p60. Due to their compact size and light weight, we can place them close to the action without getting in the way, or mount them with a simple clamp to a wall or truss. Ideal for intimate concerts and small events.
Video switcher
We use a Røde RODECaster Video as the brain of the production. This switcher can handle up to 6 inputs, has built-in support for overlays, scenes, and more. The mixer also has 2 XLR/Jack combo inputs for professional audio input, support for Røde wireless microphones, and many more I/O options.
The RODECaster can (if an internet connection is available) stream directly to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, etc., but can also be connected via USB to a laptop for additional possibilities (e.g., streaming with OBS). The extra HDMI output makes it possible to also use a projection or repeat screen.
Own local network
Our video kit includes its own local network which we use to connect the cameras with a single cable for video data, power, and remote control. This is ideal for quick setup and breakdown and laying as few cables as possible, gives us confidence in a stable connection between all components, and the own network makes it independent of limitations at the location.
Recording & Output
The video mix is delivered as 1080p60 MP4 format. With the Complete package, you also receive the camera footage from each individual camera separately, in 4K30 (Tail Air) or 4K60 (Tail 2) format on an SSD drive that you can keep.
Expandability
Our system can handle up to 6 inputs on request. This can include additional cameras, laptop screens for presentations, or other video sources.
Think you need more cameras? Contact us—the limit of our video switcher is 6 inputs.
